eThis weekend, is one of the first weekends where I did not go home, but stayed here in northern VA. So, yesterday, I decided to two the ~15 miles up to the Pohick Bay Regional Park for the night. It's a nice regional park with a rustic campground with hookups. Just down the road, about 1/4 mile is the Gunston Hall - George Mason's plantation that is open to the public. It's a nice place on the Potomac. About 7 miles to the north is Mt. Vernon... so I can now use my decal. I'm back south (drove through a huge storm) at the Travel Trailer Village. Here are a couple pictures.

Well, last weekend, we attended the Vintage Trailer JAM that took place over in Saratoga Springs State Park. It was great..but it did tire me out... I was in Charleston, SC that week, taped the VAP on Thursday night until around midnight, then made it to the Airport around 5am. I flew to Washington, DC (Reagan) and landed around 0830. I then got to my truck and had to make it back to Quantico for a 1400 briefing. On the way down I95, I got entangled with an unmarked cop car (that's a camp fire story - sorry), and made it finally to work around 0945. At 1500, we departed for NY. TRAFFIC around the Capitol and I81 is all I can say... we made it home around midnight...and at 0530 I had the wife and kids in the car to drive the 2 hours and 45 minutes to Saratoga... we arrived at 815am, and Frank was just getting out of bed - hey man, I thought Breakfast would be waiting... just kidding.. apparently, Frank has a hard time getting his ladies to get up in the morning..... So, we walked around, saw alot of familiar faces, and cool trailers and made it finally back over to Frank's place.... MMMMMM! Coffee, pancakes, bacon and Scrapple.... it was a breakfast that was enjoyed by many!!! The rest of the day, we just toured the trailers during open house and departed the pattern around 3pm. It was hot. On the way home, we stopped into Troy, NY to take a tour through Russell Sage College (Zoe's Alma Mater) and then home. On Sunday, we departed for Quantico again around 4pm, and with traffic, got back at 0100 on Monday morning...let me just say, 0500 came early and by Monday afternoon, I was beat! Enjoy... we'll be doing a Jackson Center, Oh to Milan, Mi for the Metro Detroit rally 13-17 August... so stay tuned!

This past weekend was a great FAMILY weekend, where I arrived home Wednesday evening and for the next 4 days was nothing but family and BUILDING. See, a few weeks ago, I posted a picture of our new chicks.. yes - Airstream Camping Chicks Steve!! These things have grown and needed a place outside... vice our front porch. So, last weekend, I built the base and scavenged old silo boards, and this weekend, I built the coop....a carpenter I'm not.. but it's only a coop! We even put the old SOTR drawers to good use - they are the chickens new nesting boxes. So, check it out! Ah, there sits the 54 Safari - one day that'll be back on the road!!! We are now getting ready for Thursday; Zoe' and the boys will be having special Courtesy Parking guests - on their way to the VTJ ...man am I going to be jealous to not be there! Check out our Guard cat... as she sits there licking her lips looking for a way into the coop... Enjoy.

Well, it's been a while since I last posted. I've been really busy here with the Marines. I've been working a little here and there on Sophie, but to tell the truth, I've just been taking it easy in the evenings. I'm currently on the way headed north to NY for the 4th weekend, where I'll be building a chicken coop and possibly look into the wheel bearings on the Caravel. Next week is the 1st annual Vintage Trailer Jam . I'll head back down on Sunday and then I'll be working until late Friday next week (the 11th), but then will be driving home Friday night, and on Saturday, we're getting up early to head over to the Jam for the day - I've got to have a piece of Frank's pie!!! I've been thinking about it alot, and even though it would be awesome to take the SOTR over, it'll be really cool to be able to go from trailer to trailer without worrying about staying at the SOTR during open house. Plus, we'll go over, spend the day, and then most likely stay somewhere nice Saturday night - and I'll still get to meet alot of people I haven't met yet! Ok, see ya down the road.
